Allahabad: The Supreme Court today refused to hear the urgent mentioning of a plea against an order of the Allahabad High Court, which had directed the makers of the controversial movie ‘Adipurush’ to appear before the court before July 27.

The movie which is a retelling of the epic Ramayana, has come under attack for its dialogue and use of colloquial language. A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud asked the counsel appearing for the makers of the movie to mention it.

Earlier on June 30, the Allahabad High Court had directed the makers of the movie to appear before it on July 27 and told the central government to form a committee to give its views on the film. Meanwhile, it was hearing separate petitions of Kuldeep Tiwari and Naveen Dhawan seeking ban on the movie.

Manoj Muntashir, the writer of the highly anticipated film ‘Adipurush,’ has already issued an appology for offending people’s religious sentiments with his controversial dialogues. Muntashir expressed his heartfelt apologies in a tweet, acknowledging that the film had hurt people’s emotions. He humbly sought forgiveness and invoked the blessings of Lord Hanuman to keep everyone united and grant strength to serve their sacred Sanatan (Hinduism) and their nation.
