Director Mohit Suri is already ruling the Bollywood headlines; his recently released romantic film Saiyaara is at the moment a huge box-office hit. The movie has brought two new potential talents, Aneet Padda and Ahan Pandey, whose fame has soared high to compete with the well-established ones. Because of gathering hearts all over the country, Saiyaara has established its grip at the box office and is breaking records every day.
As a surprise package, it has beaten many big-budget movies and has been riding on tremendous word-of-mouth and crowd excitement. In only four days since its release, the film found itself in the 100 crore club, an aspect no one saw coming. It has now reached another milestone on its ninth day. Sources report that on the second Saturday, Saiyaara grossed a remarkable 26.5 crores net, taking the box office collections to 217.25 crores. This is the second movie of the year to make it to the ₹200 crore mark, the first being Chhaava by Vicky Kaushal.
The movie experienced a fantastic 47 per cent increase in attendance on the 2nd Saturday, taking advantage of the holiday. Although weekday collections are being affected by the working day with a certain decline, there is the weekend rush, which has given it the new life it needs, and the Sunday collections will contribute even further to its ticket collections.
Interestingly, Saiyaara has shattered a 15-year record of Bollywood overtaking love stories as the quickest romantic drama to include the 200 crores club. Trade experts further believe that with this kind of momentum, it may not be very difficult to see this film cross the 300 crore mark in the next couple of weeks.
The interesting music, emotive acting, and the typical traditional style of storytelling by Mohit Suri have made Saiyaara the typical love story movie that all the audience can hopefully wait to see the multi-million dollar movie machine at the box office run out of steam or stay on and crush all the competition.
