The Bangalore RTO on the 22nd evening launched a special drive to seize multi-crore cars near UB City. Amongst the 17 seized vehicles also includes the Rolls Royce Phantom previously owned by Amitabh Bachchan.
The RTO has taken custody of all the high-end vehicles. However, a specific reason for the seizure has not been disclosed yet. Amongst the seized cars the Rolls Royce Phantom, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar XJ L, Ferrari, Audi R8, Porsche and few others have been identified.
“Based on information from our sources, we carried out a drive at UB City. Officials seized seven cars, including a Rolls Royce registered in Maharashtra. The vehicle was registered in the name of Amitabh Bachchan in 2019 but was later allegedly purchased by a builder from Bangalore. During our drive, a person named Salman Khan was driving the car. He failed to produce documents related to the car. The car was also plying without insurance. We have impounded the car as per the rules”, Additional Commissioner (Enforcement) of Transport Department, Narendra Holkar quoted while briefing a news reporter.
According to Bangalore RTO, they seized the vehicles after verifying the details on the Parivahan Sewa website. However, since they could not find any relevant and valid documents online, they seized the vehicles from various locations in UB City, which is an upmarket commercial establishment.
After the seizure, authorities have asked the owners to present the documents verifying ownership of the vehicle. In case of improper documents presented, the authorities announce to auction the vehicles.
