On its 13th day at the box office, Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal” is steadily approaching the ₹500 crore milestone in India. According to industry reports, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed film garnered approximately ₹10 crore in India on Wednesday. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, the movie features Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri in significant roles. The total domestic box office collection for “Animal” now stands at ₹467.84 crore in all languages.

The film, which opened with ₹63.8 crore in India on December 1, collected ₹10 crore on day 13, as per early estimates. Notably, “Animal” entered the ₹300 crore club within a week of its release, marking it as Ranbir’s most successful film to date. The first-week collection amounted to ₹337.58 crore in all languages, with ₹300.81 crore coming from the Hindi version alone.

Released in five languages – Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam – “Animal” saw diverse regional success. The Telugu version amassed ₹33.45 crore in week 1, the Tamil version earned ₹2.73 crore, while the Kannada and Malayalam versions garnered ₹52 lakh and ₹7 lakh, respectively.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Murad Khetani, and Pranay Reddy Vanga, the film has courted controversy for its portrayal of extreme violence and has been criticized for glorifying toxic masculinity. Despite its financial success, a section of viewers and critics have labelled “Animal” as misogynistic.

The film’s narrative revolves around the tumultuous relationship between Anil Kapoor’s character, Balbir Singh, and Ranbir Kapoor’s character, Ranvijay Singh (Vijay), set against a backdrop of crime. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, while Bobby Deol takes on the role of the primary antagonist. Shakti Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Prithviraj, and Siddhant Karnick also feature in pivotal roles. Released on December 1, 2023, “Animal” faced competition from Vicky Kaushal’s “Sam Bahadur” at the box office.
