Andhra King Taluka which opened theatres on November 27 earned a net opening day of about Rs 4.25 crore, a stable but by no means a spectacular debut of the new film of Ram Pothineni. Although the movie did not experience a massive opening day, early signs show that it can pick up on the weekend assuming that the movie is well received and via word of mouth.

The movie Andhra King had mixed occupancy patterns during the opening day in the Telugu-speaking areas. Overall occupancy on November 27 was 32.97 percent, which can be described as a slow increase in footfall throughout the day. The morning shows started at moderately high of 29.23 percent and then dropped slightly to 26.64 percent in the afternoon. But the movie turned around in the evening recording 32.41 percent, and later on came out of the night on a good note with a good 43.61 percent occupancy. This recovery in the end of the day shows that there is growing interest, especially among young urban viewers.

However, the Karnataka reception was much gentler. The Kannada dubbed version registered a total occupancy at only 7.53 percent. Morning shows had some relative improvement at 11.38 percent, and then the numbers dropped drastically in afternoon and evening screenings. Even night shows were also not strong as they had occupancy of 5.60 percent indicating that the film had not gained much traction among the Kannada market.

As per the initial trade projections, Andhra King Taluka is currently in the moderate performance range. Its present momentum indicates that the future of the film in the box office will strongly rely on how the film performs during the weekend. Great word of mouth or positive reviews would assist in increasing collections, whereas an average reaction would leave the numbers the same. The movie has so far had a decent opening but it is only in the coming days that its potential in the box office will be known.
