Pushpa 2: Pushpa 2 The Rule is poised to set new benchmarks at the Indian box office. Early reports on the film’s advance bookings suggest the Sukumar directorial is expected to shatter records as it debuts worldwide in multiple languages.
According to industry tracker, Pushpa 2 has already grossed over Rs 63 crore for Day 1, selling nearly 2.14 million tickets. The Hindi version alone has earned Rs 24.12 crore, while the Telugu 2D version has raked in Rs 34.37 crore. The Tamil version has contributed Rs 1.8 crore to the total, with Kerala’s advance bookings hitting Rs 3 crore. Including block seats, the film’s earnings have reached an impressive Rs 77.97 crore in India.
Famous film critic, Taran Adarsh posted an update from the advance booking.
Three years back when Pushpa 1 hit the screens, not many could predict the kind of impact it would have on Indian cinema. The film about the rise of a gutsy nobody to the top echelons of a smuggling syndicate found resonance across the country. Among its many box-office achievements, Pushpa also made history by making Allu Arjun the first male Telugu actor to receive a National Award for Best Actor. In fact, in an interview on Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Unstoppable with NBK, Allu Arjun spoke about how it was very distressing to not see a single male Telugu actor’s name in the Best Actor list, and Pushpa’s role in making history.
Sukumar reveals that Pushpa was supposed to be one film until Cherry, the CEO of producers Mythri Movie Makers, suggested turning into a two part film. Pushpa: The Rise has been the most awaited, showing just how well the idea worked for the makers.
Despite various controversies surrounding Pushpa 2, including a purported tiff between director Sukumar and Allu Arjun, and a public spat between composer Devi Sri Prasad and producers Mythri Movie Makers, the film has been completed, and is gearing up for a blockbuster opening.
