Chennai: Filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s epic magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1 is roaring at the box office. The film has earned more than Rs 325 crores gross globally and became the third highest-grossing Tamil film. The filme minted Rs 318 crore worldwide in just six days and minted Rs 130 crores in Tamil Nadu alone. It continues to perform well as against Hritik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer Vikram Vedha faces a decline at the ticket window.
Famous trade analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Vikram Vedha faces a decline on Friday.. better numbers on sat and sun are a must”.
Ponniyin Selvan1, also known as PS1 is a period drama based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name. the film focuses on the early days of Raja Raja Chola 1. To compete, fans are closely eyeing Chiranjeevi starrer GodFather, remake of Malayalam hit Lucifer. The Telugu drama opened with good number on October 5 and has entered Rs 100 crore club at the worldwide box office in just three days after release.
