Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was rushed to the hospital after returning positive to COVID-19, sources reported. The 92-year-old singer is admitted to the renowned Breach Candy hospital and is under expert supervision her niece Rachna shared with the media. “She is mild Covid positive. Considering her age, doctors advised us that she should be in the ICU because she requires constant care. And we cannot take a chance. As a family, we want the best and want to ensure she has 24X7 care,” Rachana said. “She will be fine. But it is going to take a while because of her age. And also, COVID-19 takes seven days …, she added.”
This is, however not the first time the veteran singer has been hospitalized. In 2019 the nightingale of India was hospitalized when she complained of breathing difficulties, which she recovered from after expert care.
Celebrated as one of the most iconic singers in Indian cinema, Lataji celebrated her 92nd birthday in September at a closed affair. With a record of over 30,000 songs in several Indian and Regional languages, the veteran lent her voice for the last time in Veer Zara in 2004. Progressing in her career she was conferred with prestigious awards beginning with the Padma Bhushan in 1969 followed by Dadasaheb Phalke in 1989 and many more until 2009 where she received the ANR National Award.
