Ajay Devgn’s “Maidaan” not only received unexpected attention but performance-wise, it flew like never seen before from the inaugural day to its first Decade. Initially, the sports drama had earned an average audience, and it just managed to scrape through with 1-1.5 crore on a weekly basis. While the 2nd Saturday was an accursed day, things took an enchanting turn with the collections in their favor.

The numbers under Amit Sharma’s direction are not far behind the tickets that were actually sold in the preliminary viewings, and as a result, the film grossed an absolute ₹2.83 crore from its Sunday Box-office run.

The movie has a promising start to it, with its estimated box office revenue of 4.75 crore on the first and 2.5 crore on the eve of Eid. It stood vastly due to its extended weekend of four days, for which it accumulated an astonishing amount of 22.22 crore. On the other hand, the upswing could not keep going on in the next two days as the drop in the sloping line on Monday indicated a possible negative turn.

However, it was the second Saturday of the release when all hope was restored as the film gained a mind-boggling 93% business to the prior day. The film, which apparently made away with around 1.4-1.5 crore, turned leading all the rest of the ten movies which are still showing in the theatres as of the 20th of April.

Maidaan, the movie, has proved to push the probabilities beyond expectations, which not only helped in increasing the performance of the sports drama but also proved the old saying that sports is one of the most-liked things. As moviegoers pick up their unfinished business of last year, another gem in the desert is on display: the cinematic experience has its appeal that is indeed captivating its audience and has them going to theaters for a second time.

People’s reactions to the film have been very positive, as to the realistic conception of real-life situations and the story, which could make people feel the thrill of life-giving. Ajay Devgn has especially impressed the audience with his clever portrayal of the leading character, which is not only natural but also deep and authentic. Therefore, he has won the hearts of viewers rather than the artificial romantic vibe, which is the prevalent issue in many other Bollywood films.
