Mythological animated epic by Ashwin Kumar Mahavatar Narsimha went on its golden run at the box office and still hasn’t seen even some slight signs of slowing down, and after 17 days, it’s in theatres. Not only has the film already surpassed the 150 crore mark in India over the Rakshabandhan weekend, but it is now slowly approaching the highly acclaimed 200 crore mark globally as well.
As per the trackers, Mahavatar Narsimha earned a net of 22.75 crore on day 17, and those total domestic earnings are now sky high at 168.65 crore. The maintenance of performance at the movie is attributed to its audience pull, and this is due to its epic imagery, compelling narrative storytelling, and devotion.
The film, in both 2D and 3D formats, was released in Telugu and Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. Interestingly, even on the 3D version, most people are still finding it as the most opted format, especially in Telugu. At the Telugu (3D) version, the total occupancy of the film on Sunday stood at 64.31% with the afternoon and evening shows hitting a peak of 74.59% and 75.02% respectively. The morning and the night shows continued to do well, recording 53.75 percent and 53.86 percent.
The Telugu (2D) version also fared very well, bringing about an occupancy to the tune of 49.35% on the same day. Delhi NCR recorded the maximum number of screenings on its day 17, followed by Ahmedabad with 328 screenings, Mumbai with 293 screenings, and Surat with 252 screenings.
As far as the number of audiences is concerned, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Pune were the most popular destinations where the cinema theatres were full, and people were excited.
Mahavatar Narsimha has resonated with not only the family viewer but also the youth with its strong mythological plot and state-of-the-art animation. Subject to the existing trend, the film is likely to leave the 200 crore mark in the world gradually within days, making it one of the most successful animation movies in the history of Indian cinema.
