Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut “Madgaon Express” saw a significant decline in box office numbers on its second Monday compared to day 10. Industry trackers reported that the comedy-drama amassed ₹0.50 crore on day 11, bringing its total business to ₹17.65 crore. The film experienced a drop from its second Sunday collections of ₹1.5 crore. Released on March 22, “Madgaon Express” stars Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, and Avinash Tiwary in leading roles, revolving around three childhood friends on a Goa trip that takes an unexpected turn. The movie features Nora Fatehi, Chhaya Kadam, and Remo D’Souza in pivotal roles alongside the trio.
In a recent interview, Kunal Kemmu shared his wife Soha Ali Khan’s positive feedback on the film, which he also wrote. Kemmu expressed gratitude for her support, stating, “When she had seen a couple of rushes, her feedback was all positive. As much as I trust her and I know that she can be blunt with me, sometimes I feel that she can go easy on me so as to sound encouraging. Maybe she did that to understand whether I’m sure of my film or not.”
Kunal Kemmu further expressed pride and satisfaction in his directorial venture, mentioning, “She knew that I was carrying a big burden and I was both excited and nervous about it. But I believe in myself too, and so, I know that what she feels isn’t completely wrong. Madgaon Express was in the right space. I was proud and happy with what I had made.”
The film’s performance at the box office reflects a blend of positive feedback and mixed results in terms of collection figures. Despite the decline in numbers on its second Monday, Kemmu remains optimistic about the film’s overall impact and appreciates the support received from his wife and audience alike.
