Lokah Chapter 1 – Chandra has already swept into the Indian box office as one of the most eagerly awaited Indian movies of the year. It has even been described by some critics as the best Indian film of the decade. The Malayalam superhero movie has gradually attracted a huge following since its launch, thrilling the viewers with its peculiar folklore, science fiction, and horror. The film was directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan and also boasts of great performances by Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, Sandy, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salimkumar, Nishanth Sagar, Raghunath Paleri, Vijayaraghavan, Nithya Shri, and Sarath Sabha.

On the fourth day of its theatrical release, Lokah Chapter 1 had grossed 24.3 crore net (28.4 crore gross) in India, much of it on a record-breaking Sunday of 10 crore. This was a 30 per cent increase over Saturday and an extraordinary 280 per cent rise over its opening day, an encouraging sign of strong word-of-mouth and viewer interest.

Its showings in the United States have been spectacular, but the foreign collections of the movie have been spectacular too. Lokah Chapter 1 has struck a chord with the Indian diaspora in North America and the Middle East and has earned more than 4 million dollars (around 35 crore) overseas. These numbers bring the global cumulative total of the movie at the close of the long opening week to more than [63 crore.

This has made Lokah Chapter 1 be ranked as one of the 25 highest-grossing Malayalam movies of all time, beating the 2013 blockbuster Drishyam by Mohanlal that had already earned 62 crore. Due to the current path of the film and the sustained popularity with the audience, it is a popular forecast that the film will surpass 100 crore in its lifetime. Though the all-time record of L2: Empuraan (267 crore) will probably be hard to break, the movie will certainly reach a number of important milestones before its theatrical performance comes to an end.
