New Delhi: The Supreme Court today issued notice to the government of Tamil Nadi and West Bengal where the movie ‘The Kerela Story’ has been withdrawn from theatres. The bench with CJI Chandrachud has told the states to file their replies by Wednesday.
The Kerala Story suffered various backlashes from different parts of the country. This movie was banned from West Bengal by the Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and it also received a de facto freeze in Tamil Nadu. The Director of the film was not happy with this decision and this matter has been taken to the Supreme Court with the help of a petition.
This petition and case has been given in hands of CJI Chandrachud and the Supreme Court refused to hear a plea against the movie on Thursday claiming that let the public decide. the court further pointed out the money sunk into the project and the labour put in by actors. Even after suffering from these backlashes, the movie is performing well in the Box Office.
It has been a week since the movie was released and it collected a total of 80 crores in just 6 days. This shows that the movie is heading close to the 100 crore mark. In total, the movie has collected a total of 80.68 crores till Thursday. The collection of Friday will be out as soon as the day ends.
The director of the film claims that the movie is based on real-life incidents and also reveals that more than 32 thousand women in Kerala have suffered from Love Jihad. This is another controversial film which came out after The Kashmir Files and is known to be a better competition for the movie.
