After Sunny Deol’s strong message to the paparazzi, filmmaker Karan Johar has now commented on the incessant media attention on the Deol family, especially the veteran actor Dharmendra, who is suffering with health issues. Karan said that he was deeply disturbed by what he called a “media circus” surrounding a living legend, and that this behaviour showed a disregard for the most basic human decency and respect.
On his Instagram Stories, Karan called upon the photographers and media to please give the family privacy during this difficult time. Karan stated that they are dealing with the emotional struggles revolving around Dharmendra’s health and that it is time to show compassion and sensitivity. “We know we are a doomed human race when basic courtesy and sensitivity leaves our hearts and our actions,” he wrote.
Karan made another impassioned plea for the media to stop using the personal struggles of the Deols for stories. “PLEASE leave a family alone! They are already emotionally combating so much,” he added. Karan stressed how the lack of privacy and noise were not journalism and that it was a direct disrespect of an elderly gentleman who has made significant contributions to Indian cinema.
