Goa: Iranian authorities have barred filmmaker Reza Dormishian, who took part in anti-hijab protests, from entering India. In fact, Reza Dormishian’s film “A Minor” was to be screened at the International Film Festival (IFFI 2022) which is being held in Goa, due to which he was planning to come to India. However, he has faced sanctions from the Iranian regime for expressing anti-regime views. Reza Dormishian is the most recent representative of Iranian cinema.
According to reports, the Iranian authorities did not allow Reza Dormishian to leave Iran when the producers of the film were leaving Iran to attend the International Film Festival of India. Then his passport was seized at the airport. Not only this, it is being claimed in media reports that Reza Dormishian has been sent to the court of law for prosecution. However, it is not yet clear whether Dormishian has been arrested or not.
Apparently, Reza Dormishian had recently uploaded some posts on his social media sites commenting on the Iranian government. Sources close to the director-producer say, “Throughout the nationwide protests in Iran, Dormishian shared various posts on his Instagram account to show support for the significant development.”
Notably, the International Film Festival of India is currently being concluded in Goa. The inauguration event of the festival saw Kartik Aaryan dancing to the tunes of some of his popular numbers. Apart from him other political and film fraternity celebrities were also present at the inaugural ceremony. This is the first time after the pandemic that the IFFI is going physical after two years. The 53rd installment of the festival is going to end today.
