On Monday, social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija and YouTuber Samay Raina will appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) via video conference in response to the continuing controversy over an episode of Raina’s well-liked show “India’s Got Latent.”
The guest’s offensive remarks on the show, which featured podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, have caused a great deal of public protest and legal action.
Following a complaint filed by the Maharashtra Police over the contentious statements, the NCW summons was issued on February 11. Known for his YouTube channel BeerBiceps, Allahbadia has yet to reply to the NCW’s request. The probe by the commission comes after several first information reports (FIRs) were filed in Guwahati and Mumbai, where the incident sparked a great deal of controversy.
On Monday, Raina, Mukhija, Allahbadia, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, and comedian Jaspreet Singh are all expected to appear before the NCW. ‘India’s Got Latent’ producers Saurabh Bothra and Tushar Poojari have also been called in for interrogation.
After Allahbadia’s remarks on the show caused a social media chaos, the problem initially attracted attention. After the show became widely popular, Samay Raina took it off from YouTube and later apologized for the incident. “I have been unable to cope with this. In a post earlier this week, Raina declared, “I will fully cooperate with the authorities.”
