Indian Idol 3 winner Prashant Tamang has passed away at the age of 43. Bhaven Dhanaka, who co-contested Tamang on the singing reality show, confirmed the news and said that he passed away this morning in Delhi.
Bhaven told a media house that since it all happened suddenly, we don’t have much information, but it’s being said it was a cardiac arrest. We’re also waiting for information about the funeral.
He further explained that Prashant had moved to Delhi a few years ago. Besides singing, he was also passionate about his career as an actor. We were roommates during Indian Idol, and he was one of the nicest people you could ever know. We will all miss him dearly. He was truly a great man, and his death is a huge blow to all of us.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences in a post on X, which read, “Saddened by the sudden and untimely demise today of Prashant Tamang, a popular singer and national-level artist of ‘Indian Idol’ fame. His connection to the Darjeeling hills and his one-time association with the Kolkata Police made him especially dear to us in Bengal. I extend my condolences to his family, friends, and countless followers.”
Prashant Tamang is survived by his wife and a young daughter. He recently wrapped shooting for Salman Khan’s “The Battle of Galwan,” which will be his last work for his fans to remember.
