Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s collaboration in “Fighter” surprised industry insiders with an unexpected drop on its first Monday, earning around ₹7.75 crore on day 6. Despite a slight decline from the previous day, the film’s total domestic collection stands at ₹134.25 crore. With a 12.77 percent occupancy on day 6, expectations are high for an improvement during the upcoming weekend.
Globally, “Fighter” has performed well, boasting a gross collection of ₹225 crore. However, it falls short compared to director Siddharth Anand’s earlier films like “Pathaan” and “War.”
Featuring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi, the film was released a year after “Pathaan” on January 25, just before the extended Republic Day weekend. Directed by Siddharth Anand, “Fighter” received positive reviews and favorable word of mouth. Produced by Viacom18 Studios in collaboration with Marflix Pictures, the film has been both applauded and critiqued for its alleged political undertones.
Responding to the criticism, Hrithik clarified that he respects director Siddharth Anand’s conviction, even though some may not agree with certain aspects of the film. He stated to reporters, “I would like to believe that my fans and my audience who come to watch my films are a bit more evolved and they would not need lines like these. That is a weight that I bear. As an actor, I do not cross any lines. At the same time, I admire that Sid (Siddharth Anand) is a very, very headstrong filmmaker. It is his conviction. Sometimes you see somebody that convinced and it kind of breaks your heart to power down and say no. I also bear the weight of that because finally it is my face. But I am very, very happy that it has landed as entertainment and nothing more than that. I am really relieved about that. Having said that, I still bear the weight.”
