The highly anticipated sequel ‘Gadar 2’, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, is maintaining its momentum at the box office even after an impressive run of 25 days in theatres. Although the pace of the box office collection seems to be decelerating, the film continues to gather a significant revenue, currently standing tall with a cumulative collection of Rs 503.67 crore.
This release, eagerly awaited for 22 years, marks the reunion of the iconic duo, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, under the masterful direction of Anil Sharma, bringing a fresh surge of excitement for fans who adored the first instalment, ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, released in 2001.
Having hit the screens on August 11, the film faced stiff competition, clashing with another big release, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Oh My God 2’. Notwithstanding the competition, ‘Gadar 2’ managed to cross the remarkable 500-crore benchmark on Saturday, September 2. However, the journey has not been without hurdles as the film experienced a considerable dip in its collections on its fourth Monday in theatres, September 4, garnering a modest 2.50 crore, which is its lowest daily collection till date.
Consequently, the movie’s total net collection stands at an impressive Rs 503.67 crore. Industry pundits are keenly observing to see how the film fares once Shah Rukh Khan’s new venture, ‘Jawan’, launches on September 7. Notably, the movie recorded a decent occupancy rate of 12.59% on September 4.
In this sequel, the narrative arc follows Tara Singh, a role reprised by Sunny Deol, on an audacious journey across the border with a mission to rescue his son, portrayed by Utkarsh Sharma, who finds himself ensnared in Pakistan.
