Kesari Chapter 2: An FIR has been filed against 7 producers of Akshay Kumar starrer film ‘Kesari Chapter 2’. An FIR has been filed against seven producers of the film at Bidhannagar South Police Station under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Controversy and politics are at its peak in West Bengal regarding the film. West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has accused the producers of the film ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ of tampering with history. The party says that the film presents a wrong image of the freedom fighters of Bengal.

The party said in a press conference that the name of revolutionary Khudiram Bose has been shown as ‘Khudiram Singh’ in the film. Barindra Kumar Ghosh has been shown as ‘Birendra Kumar’ and that too from Amritsar. TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Arup Chakraborty, while talking to the media, said that this is not just a mistake but a conspiracy to erase the role of Bengal in the freedom struggle.

Without naming the film, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that efforts are being made to undermine the role of Bengal’s freedom fighters. She alleged that such efforts are being made with the support of the BJP. She said, “We condemn this. Bengal’s cultural heritage is being targeted again and again.”

TMC also alleged that this is not the first time the central government has tried to undermine the heritage of Bengal. TMC also says that the role of revolutionary Hemchandra Kanungo has been changed in the film and a fictional character named ‘Kripal Singh’ has been added. Kanungo had given training in making bombs.
