The anticipated collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan titled ‘Fighter’ premiered on Republic Day 2024 and had an opening with a collection of around ₹22.5 crore. However, the film witnessed a decline in its domestic box office numbers on the second Friday earning an estimated ₹5.35 crore net in India. Despite this dip ‘Fighter’ has managed to accumulate a ₹151.85 crore net according to industry trackers.
The film reached its peak on the Friday raking in a day collection of approximately ₹39.5 crore net on day two. Following that success ‘Fighter’ continued its momentum with collections of around ₹27.5 crore net on Saturday, ₹29 crore net on Sunday ₹8 crore net on Monday, ₹7.5 crore net on Tuesday ₹6.5 crore net on Wednesday and ₹6 crore net on Thursday.
On the global stage as well, ‘Fighter’ crossed the milestone of grossing over ₹250 crores showcasing its commendable performance beyond Indian borders. The movie narrates the captivating story of Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania (played by Hrithik Roshan), Squadron Leader Minal Rathore (played by Deepika Padukone) and Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh (played by Anil Kapoor), who lead the IAF unit called Air Dragons.
Amidst the increasing activities in the Srinagar Valley, the Air Headquarters has appointed the Air Dragons as the primary force to respond to threats. Consisting of combat aviators from the IAF, the Air Dragons featured in ‘Fighter’ represent a steadfast dedication and selflessness towards our nation as they navigate through both internal and external struggles.
The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, features Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi alongside the lead pair. For Deepika Padukone, ‘Fighter’ marks her third collaboration with Siddharth Anand, following ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ (2008) and the 2023 blockbuster ‘Pathaan.’ Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand, with previous collaborations like ‘Bang Bang’ (2014) and ‘War’ (2019), continue to deliver impactful cinematic experiences.
