Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has received a summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding his involvement with the Mahadev betting app case. He is required to appear before the ED on October 6th. Ranbir Kapoor had been endorsing the betting app, leading to his summons as part of the investigation.
Sources within the ED state that Ranbir Kapoor is being summoned to provide his statement as a witness in this case. The ED is particularly interested in determining when he started endorsing the app, how much he was compensated for his activities and whether payments were made via checks or cash. Additionally, investigators are seeking information about individuals with whom he interacted for purposes if any contracts were signed.
Both the ED and police are scrutinizing the Mahadev Book app due to allegations of money laundering activities. The company behind this app, promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, reportedly operated from Dubai and engaged in money laundering through benami accounts. This case gained attention when Chandrakar organized a wedding in February 2023, allegedly spending Rs 200 crore in cash.
Recently the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids on the offices of celebrity managers in Mumbai and Delhi. These raids were part of a case during which a sum of Rs 2.50 crore in cash was seized. It has come to light that several Bollywood celebrities, including Ranbir Kapoor, had been endorsing betting apps associated with this case.
