Mumbai: The prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022 were held at the Taj Lands End, Mumbai on Sunday. Veterans, Gen-Z stars and the DDLJ era celebrities were also seen in their best during the event.
Veteran actor, Asha Parekh dressed in a dazzling blue saree was conferred with the ‘Outstanding contribution to Film Industry Award’. The event was graced by Lucky Ali’s evergreen ‘O Sanam performance.
The Best Actor award was bagged by Ranveer Singh for ‘83’ while Kiriti Sanon was appreciated for her performance in Mimi. Vishnuvardhan directorial biographical war film ‘Shershah’ was awarded the Best Film. The biography of the Param Vir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra received an OTT release on Amazon Prime in August last year.
South blockbuster ‘Pushpa- The Rise’ bagged the film of the year accolade at the event. Srivalli- trending across social media platforms has been praised widely. After the Pan-India success of the action entertainer, the actors are all set to gear up for the sequel ‘Pushpa- The Rule’ which would star Fahad Faasil and Rashmika Madan.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest award in the field of cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The recipient is honoured for their “outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema” and is selected by a committee consisting of eminent personalities from the Indian film industry. The award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of ₹1,000,000 (US$13,000).
