Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, is a film that has already become a colossal box office hit, and this time with a global crossing of 1,088 crore in the first week alone. The spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh in a lead role, supported by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, had a gross domestic and overseas collection of 814.33 crores and 274.33 crores, respectively, during its first eight days. The net domestic collection of the film was 690 crores over the same period, which made the film one of the largest blockbusters in Indian cinema history.

The movie started on a high note as it registered the highest opening weekend revenues of 761 crore crores worldwide in four days. It was also in good pace during the weekdays and it added 64 crore on Monday, 58crore on Tuesday, 49 crore on Wednesday and 53 crore on Thursday in India alone. These stable figures show the popularity of this film and the large attendance of viewers in the regions.

In the commercial success of the film, popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has caused controversy with a critical look of the sequel. The same rathee who criticized the first installment earlier said that he feels his concerns have been worsened after viewing the new release. In one of his analysis videos, he claimed controversially that the film is not mere entertainment but a politically driven film and argued that the film acts as a costly advertisement campaign.

He also challenged the fact that the film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, was fictitious yet based on real-life events, by mentioning the use of real-life characters like Narendra Modi and mentioning Dawood Ibrahim. Rathee contends that these elements confuse the distinction between the reality and fiction, and it becomes hard to draw the line between reality and fiction by the viewers. He also emphasized on emotional priming, implying that some scenes are meant to create a powerful response and influence the perception of the audience in a subtle, yet, insignificant way to the storyline.
