The spy thriller Dhurandhar by Aditya Dhar is drawing to a close of its first week in theatres, and the movie does not seem to have stopped its successful box-office performances. Featuring Ranveer Singh as its main character, the film has demonstrated a steady flow since its debut on Friday last and has topped numerous other blockbusters of this year. On Thursday, the producers of the film, Jio Studios, announced that Dhurandhar has made 188.60 crore net in India, which is higher than the total domestic life collections of Sitaare Zameen Par, produced by Aamir Khan.
The movie began with an opening of ₹28.60 crore, and then it experienced a great growth of ₹33.10 crore on Saturday and 44.80 crore on Sunday. It was also strong during the weekdays and gathered 24.60 crore on Monday, 28.60 crore on Tuesday, and 29.30 crore on Wednesday.
Dhurandhar also did well abroad, with trade reports suggesting that the company made 58 crore in six days. This brings its total worldwide to 274.25 crore, which makes it easily ahead of Sitaare Zameen Par, which had accumulated 267.52 crore. It has also surpassed Raid 2 of Ajay Devgn as it made ₹237.46 crore in the world.
As the movie is currently aiming at the 300 crore mark, film industry observers feel that its next milestone will be the global figure of 364.35 crore, which War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has achieved.
Directed, written and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has a very strong ensemble cast which includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi. The movie unfolds against the background of a true story of covert operations and geopolitical conflicts between India and Pakistan, in which the character of Ranveer Singh, Hamza Ali Mazari, is an undercover spy who enters a scary crime network of the Pakistani city of Lyari.
Dhurandhar is becoming one of the biggest hits of the year with a gripping plot, excellent performance and its ability to perform well over a long period at the box office.
