Mumbai: Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar continues to rock at the box office with an opening weekend minting Rs. 103 crore in India. With this, the film has surpassed all important Monday tests with flying colors and the occupancy rate indicates that the audience has a strong interest in the film.

According to a leading industry tracker, Dhurandar managed to earn Rs 8,26 crores net by 5 PM on Monday, taking the total domestic earnings to reach Rs. 111.26 crores. Famous film critic Taran Adarsh confirmed the numbers and marked its success with a tweet on X.

Is Dhurandhar Based on Real-Life Story

Ranveer Singh plays the role of an Indian soldier who infiltrated terrorist groups. Earlier, speculations were ripe that the film was based on the life of Indian soldier Mohit Sharma. However, Aditya Dhar clarified that Mohit Sharma did not inspire his role and the movie is not a biopic, but rather is inspired by real events. So, what is the real event that Dhurandhar depicts, and who is Ranveer Singh actually playing?

The movie is also inspired by some counterterror operations that shaped Indian intelligence after some of the major attacks, like 26/11. Apart from that, a huge chunk of the movie has been inspired by Operation Lyari, which introduces the key figure ‘Chaudhary Aslam Khan’, played by Sanjay Dutt, who, during an operation, killed ‘Rahman Dakait’, whose role will be played by Akshaye Khanna in the movie.
