Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri starrer Dhadak 2 is steadily holding its ground in the box office and has had a less-than-lukewarm weekend opening. According to the industry monitors, the romantic drama has earned 1.60 crores on its fifth day, taking its domestic run to 14.35 crores. Although the movie received good reviews for its acting and direction, it has yet to gain the required steam at the ticket windows.

Overall Hindi (2D) occupancy of the film was 29.22% on Tuesday, August 5. There was a slight increase during the afternoon shows in the day; however, the trend was fluctuating as evening and night shows recorded a decrease in the numbers. In the morning, occupancy remained at 13.70% but this improved to 28.60% in the afternoon, 32.07% during evening hours, and replenished with 42.50% during the whole day screenings.

The release of the film was accompanied by the comedy entertainer Son of Sardar 2, released by Ajay Devgn, and this might have been the reason behind the split in the audience’s reception over the first week.

Performance City-wise The National Capital Region (NCR) proved the best market of Dhadak 2 with the overall occupancy touching 44.75 percent in 344 shows. Jaipur was performing close to it with 40 percent occupancy, but the low number of shows topped the total collection. Chennai too had a fairly good 37 percent overall occupancy. In Mumbai and Pune, the trend was moderate at 29.25 percent and 30.25 percent occupancy, respectively. Lucknow and Bengaluru recorded slightly lower numbers between 26 and 28.75 percent.

Although the collections of the film have maintained a stable stage, trade analysts indicate that weekend two will be keen to gauge the extent of its box office success in the long term as competition threatens due to new releases scheduled in the coming weeks.
