Koratala Siva’s film Devara: Part 1, which has Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor in its star cast, was released in theaters last Friday and indeed received a mixed critical response. Differently from the critical acclaim, the movie has scored huge numbers at the box office, earning ₹304 crore across the world during its opening weekend. This total outperforms sales by nearly 50%, with $5 million coming from the United States alone. The official account for Devara: Part 1 on X (formerly Twitter) has expressed: ‘A hurricane, that is: #Devara has left no stone unturned with his ‘X’ style of devastation. #BlockbusterDevara.” Along with this message was a new poster unveiling Jr NTR’s character, brandishing a machete.
According to industry reports, Devara: Part 1 of the film had grossed ₹190 crore in India.” It was the lead role to which Jr NTR gave a subtle reference at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles last week, laughing as he made the comparison to his prior joint work with Ram Charan in SS Rajamouli’s RRR. He narrated, saying, “You have Devara the father, and you have Varada the son. It is… Well, I was thinking it’s a film that I don’t want to say too much about it, but it’s really about a father and son, and it takes you on a ride.”
The film also has an excellent star cast of Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Ajay, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, Kalaiyarasan, and Murali Sharma in the film. Devara: Part 1 showcases Devara, played by the actor Jr NTR, who demonstrates courage when he comes up against the men of Yerra Samudram, who have been involved in unlawful activities for ages. The relationships described are the father and the son; the father’s character takes care of carrying on the family business and facilitating the past mistakes made by both characters.
