Mumbai: Devara had very high expectations with an opening day number of R. 82.5 crores in all languages combined. However, it witnessed a gradual dip in business despite the benefit from Gandhi Jayanti holiday on Wednesday which benefited them with Rs. 20 crores.
Surprisingly, the Telugu version of the movie saw dip while the film’s Hindi version seems to do better. on Thursday, the film clocked in Rs 7.25 Cr, now on Day 8, which is Friday, ‘Devara’ managed to bring in Rs 6.25 crore combined in all languages. The total collection of the movie so far, after 8 days is Rs 221.85 crore.
Film critic Taran Adarsh wrote on X, “Devara packs a solid total in Week 1… The total is all the more commendable considering the film released with low-key buzz and its opening on Friday morning was not up to the mark. However, the numbers of #Devara escalated from Friday evening onward, with mass pockets driving it forward. Going forward, #Devara gets time to accumulate a good total until 10 Oct, as #Jigra and #VVKWWKV arrive on #Dussehra [11 Oct], after which the number of screens and shows will be reduced”.
The film started facing a little bit of competition from Hollywood biggie, ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ which was released three days ago. Apart from that, there’s no other major Bollywood release or any movie from the south which can give it tough competition.
Hence, it’s expected that the footfalls will hopefully increase over the weekend. It also seems like the Navratri vibe may be affected the business of movies in cinemas as people are busy going out to play garba, instead of flocking to cinemas to watch a film.
D evara is Jr. NTR’s first project after the global success of RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli. The coming days will decide the box office fate of Devara. Because there is no big release, film industry experts predicted that this film would perform well in both the Hindi and Telugu regions.
The initial success of Devara can be attributed to Jr. NTR’s huge fan following and Janhvi Kapoor’s charm. The film’s captivating dance moves and Jr. NTR’s energetic performance were particularly praised. Devara’s performance is being closely watched as the film may influence Jr. NTR’s future projects.
