Superstar Rajinikanth’s new film Coolie, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has experienced a big drop at the box office after its bang opening weekend. Sun Pictures produced the film on an unprecedented scale, and it entered cinemas with a record-breaking worldwide opening of 400 crores. In India alone, it cleared the 200 crores net mark in mere five days of receiving the release.
Industry trackers indicated that Coolie netted 12 crore rupees on its first Monday, a drop of over 50 percent against the 35.25 crore rupees that it had netted on its Day 4. The fall is important, yet the overall figures of the film are outstanding, especially given that it was released on a weekday. Thus far, the movie has earned a grand total of 206.50 crore nett domestically at the box office, and all hopes are now pegged on the performances that it delivers during the weekdays.
