Mumbai: Popular actor from the TV show CID Dinesh Phadnis is no more. Dinesh Phadnis, who played the famous character of CID officer Fredericks in Sony TV’s popular crime show ‘CID’, breathed his last at 12.08 am on Monday night in Thunga Hospital, Kandivali. He was 63 years old.
Dinesh Phadnis died due to multiple organ failure. Dayanand Shetty, who played the character of Daya in CID and is a very close friend of Dinesh Phadnis, revealed that Dinesh was suffering from liver, heart and kidney problems and his complications kept increasing day by day. He was admitted to Thunga Hospital in Kandivali on 30th November.
Phadnis’s career spanned over four decades, but it was his role as Fredericks that truly catapulted him to national fame. He breathed life into the character for nearly two decades, winning hearts with his comic timing, sharp wit, and unwavering dedication to solving crimes. Fredericks became synonymous with Phadnis, and his on-screen partnership with Daya (played by Dayanand Shetty) remains an iconic duo in Indian television history.
Beyond “CID,” Phadnis was a versatile actor who appeared in films, theatre productions, and even hosted television shows.
