Mumbai: After witnessing impressive growth in its box office collections on Sunday, Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan, managed to pass the all-important Monday test. While the sports drama did see quite a steep fall on Monday, it earned almost as much as it did on its opening day — Friday, June 14.
Early estimates on industry tracking website Sacnilk report that Chandu Champion earned around Rs 4.75 crore on Monday, which also happened to be a holiday on account of Eid. On Sunday, however, the Kartik Aaryan-starrer raked in a stellar Rs 9.75 crore. The film’s total four-day collections stand at Rs 26.25 crore.
“Inspiring. Motivating. Uplifting… An exemplary story of #MurlikantPetkar deftly narrated by #KabirKhan… #KartikAaryan is a revelation, this film should act as a game changer… DON’T MISS IT! #ChanduChampionReview Kabir encompasses pertinent episodes from the #PadmaShri awardee’s life – encapsulating struggles and achievements, highs and lows, apprehensions and eventual triumph – crafting an engaging film that wins you over”, wrote Taran Adarsh on X.
Chandu Champion has proven that while the growth of the film is slow, positive word of mouth and its inspirational source material, the real-life story of India’s first Paralympics gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, is helping attract audiences. Chandu Champion’s box office performance is being constantly compared to the performances of Kartik Aaryan’s earlier films. However, Chandu Champion is performing better that his last film, Satyaprem Ki Kathaa, which, on its first Monday, had earned Rs 3.3 crore. But the movie still trailing behind Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’s collections.
