Released concurrently with “The Vaccine War” on September 28, “Fukrey 3” has proven to be a resounding success, crossing the Rs 60-crore mark at the Indian box office and now setting its sights on the Rs 70-crore milestone. The comedy caper franchise has garnered widespread acclaim among audiences, while its counterpart, “The Vaccine War,” has faced difficulties at the box office.
On Day 8, October 5, “Fukrey 3” managed to collect around Rs 3.25 crore, according to preliminary trade reports, boosting its total collection to Rs 66.15 crore. Additionally, “Fukrey 3” maintained an overall occupancy rate of 1.86 percent in the Hindi belt on October 5, Thursday.
In contrast, Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence starrer “Chandramukhi 2” has been in theaters for over a week and has amassed a net collection of Rs 34.55 crore in the domestic market. On the eighth day, the film earned Rs 1.60 crore in theaters, as reported by the industry tracker. While the film was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, it primarily succeeded in the Tamil market.
In the Hindi market, where Kangana Ranaut typically enjoys a strong following, the film struggled to reach even Rs 1 crore in collections. After a week in theaters, the Hindi collections amounted to just Rs 78 lakh, compared to Rs 26.16 crore in Tamil and Rs 7.7 crore in Telugu.
“Chandramukhi 2” began its box office journey with a collection of Rs 8.25 crore and saw significant earnings of Rs 24.45 crore over the extended 4-day weekend. The film’s performance in the second weekend will be crucial in determining whether it can regain momentum.
