Mumbai: The disco legend, Bappi Lahri known for his hypnotizing music died at the age of 69 on Tuesday night. The legendary singer was admitted to the CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai. His death was confirmed by Dr Deepak Namjoshi, the Physician, Cardiologist and Pulmonologist where he said, Bappi Lahri breathed his last at 11:45 pm.
Reportedly, Bappi Daa was being treated for multiple health issues for the past month and was bought home on Monday after he showed improvement. However, as his health deteriorated on Tuesday, the doctor who came home to check Bappi Daa advised hospital care once again.
“Bappi Lahiri was suffering from OSA- Obstructive Sleep Apnea and recurrent chest infection. He was hospitalised in Criticare Hospital, Juhu for 29 days with this. He recovered well and was discharged home on 15 February, Dr Deepak Namjoshi said.” He further said that Bappi Lahri contracted COVID-19 and had developed Obstructive Sleep Apnea as a post-recovery complication.
According to insights, his last rights will be held after his son arrives from the USA. The cremation will be held at Pawan Hans Crematorium on Thursday.
On the work front, Bappi Lahari, Bappi Daa- for the Bollywood industry a pioneer of disco in the Bollywood of the 80s and 90s, had sung songs such as ‘Disco Dancer’, ‘Dance Dance’, ‘Chalte Chalte’ and ‘Namak Halaal’. His last contribution to the industry was ‘Bhankas’ from Bhaagi 3 featuring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor.
