Kolkata: Acclaimed Singer Arijit Singh lands in controversy after his concert that was about to happen in Eco park, Kolkata has been canceled by the WB govt. The show was scheduled for Feb 18, 2023, and his fans and followers were excited to experience his live performance. But now that the govt has canceled the event, his fans are hurt. The main reason behind the cancellation of the show as per WB govt is that the date of his concert clashed with a G-20 event that is about to take place at a venue just opposite Eco Park.

WB Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim said, “The event marking India’s G-20 presidency will take place at the convention hall just opposite the Eco Park (the venue where Arijit Singh’s concert was supposed to take place). Several foreign dignitaries are likely to attend that event.” He further added, “Huge crowds would have gathered for Arijit Singh’s show and it would have been difficult to handle. The police felt that conducting such a big event could result in a law and order problem.”

However, the opposition BJP party is painting political colors to the controversy. We have seen Arijit Singh singing “Rang de tu mohe Gerua” during the opening ceremony of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival on Dec 15 in presence of the WB chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Now, BJP loggerheads are saying that the CM has canceled Arijit Singh’s concert due to this reason. BJP’s Amit Malviya said that Mamata Didi canceled the show because she did not like him singing that song which is actually a famous song from SRK’s movie Dilwale that is originally sung by Singh himself. Now, we have to wait and watch when Arijit gets to perform next in Kolkata.
