Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Neeraj Pandey’s romantic focus on Ajay Devgn and Tabu, has not done very well starting its course at domestic collections. The movie went into release on Friday, and as per the information received, the earnings on the first day were around ₹2 crore only. Despite being a major movie, it is unable to collect a good amount in its opening weekend against Sudhanshu Saria’s other Bollywood movie of the week- Ulajh, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah which raked in ₹1.10 crore on the first day of its release.
In the first place, leading heroes like Ajay Devgn and Tabu is not debatable because the two have been known to deliver good movies together. In the past, their movies earned good ticket sales at the Box Office. For instance, their 2015 crime thriller Drishyam, directed by Nishikant Kamat, started just with ₹5.8 crore. The second part of the movie, Drishyam 2 (2022) was directed by Abhishek Pathak, which expectedly received a huge uplift and collected ₹15.38 crore on the first day of its release. Their comedy movie Golmaal Again, which Rohit Shetty released in 2017, collected ₹30 crore on the first day of release as it was a Diwali release.
Likewise, their 2019 romantic film De De Pyaar De, under the direction of Akiv Ali, generated ₹8.5 crore rupees on its first day. The action thriller set in the same category and directed by Ajay Devgn himself could only gross ₹11 crore on its opening last year. Despite having developed trends to this in their preceding projects, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha lacks the excellence level expected of them.
Alongside Aditi Rao Hydari and Tahir Raj Bhasin, the film has Jimmy Sheirgill, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Saiee Manjrekar and covers an extensive love story for 20 years, from 2002 to 2023. Pristinely set to release on July 5, the film was pushed back because of issues related to the overlapping of the strategic release date, as the movie was scheduled to go head to head with Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s action thriller Kill and Nag Ashwin’s dystopian sci-film Kalki 2898 AD.
