Yami Gautam’s political drama, “Article 370,” hit theaters alongside Vidyut Jammwal’s “Crakk” on February 23. After ten days, “Article 370” has surged past Rs 50 crore, while “Crakk” struggles at the box office. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370’s success in metropolitan areas indicates a promising trajectory fueled by positive audience feedback.
On its tenth day, Article 370 earned an estimated Rs 6.35 crore, bringing its total collection to Rs 50.45 crore. The film’s Hindi occupancy rate stood at 33.89 percent, with morning, afternoon, evening, and night shows recording 18.96 percent, 36.32 percent, 47.09 percent, and 33.20 percent, respectively, on the second Sunday.
In contrast, Vidyut Jammwal’s Crakk struggled, accumulating a mere Rs 0.28 crore on its second Sunday, with a total of Rs 13.13 crore nett in India. Despite featuring Nora Fatehi, Arjun Rampal, and Amy Jackson, Crakk has faced a downward trend since its mixed-reviewed release.
Article 370’s commendable performance persists even with new releases (Operation Valentine, Laapataa Ladies, and Kaagaz 2) entering the fray. The film’s success in crossing the Rs 50 crore mark indicates its sustained appeal. Yami Gautam’s impactful portrayal and Aditya Dhar’s production have contributed to its positive trajectory.
On the flip side, Crakk’s storyline of a man’s journey from Mumbai’s slums to the world of extreme underground sports failed to captivate audiences. Vidyut Jammwal’s production, presented by Reliance Entertainment, struggled against its own mixed reviews and strong competition from other releases.
As the box office saga continues, Article 370 appears poised for an extended successful run, while Crakk faces an uphill battle in maintaining viewer interest. The contrasting fortunes of these two films reflect the dynamic nature of the Bollywood landscape and the unpredictable nature of audience preferences.
