Asha Bhosle, one of the most iconic playback singers who has contributed to Indian cinema for nearly eight decades, became the target of death hoax. Recently, news about the death of a 91-year-old legend surfaced on Facebook by a user, Shabana Shaikh. While some fans were too quick to mourn the loss, her son, Anad Bhosle, reacted to the news and called it fake.

A Facebook user named Shabana Shaikh shared a photo of singer Asha Bhosle with a garland of flowers placed on it with a caption: “Famous singer Asha Bhosle passed away – a musical era ends (01 July 2025).” At the same time, another post made a similar claim and wrote – “Ham ne ek aor anmol kalakaar kho diye.”

Earlier in June 2025, Asha Bhosle graced the special screening of Umrao Jaan starring iconic Rekha. The movie has been re-released after more than four decades, and Bhosle had shared the stage with Rekha and director Muzaffar Ali during her performance.

Asha Bhosle is the sister of the late legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. Bhosle was married to the late music director, singer Rahul Dev Burman. She is best known for singing tracks like O Haseena Zulfonwali Jane Jahan, Hungama Ho Gaya, Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Mera Kuchh Saamaan, O Mere Sona Re, and many more.
