After being granted bail by the Telangana High Court in the Sandhya theatre incident, actor Allu Arjun was released from a Hyderabad central jail early on Saturday morning.
The actor was seen sitting in his car as he left the jail. Security forces were deployed outside his residence, ahead of his release. Arjun was taken to Chanchalguda Central Jail on Friday after a court sent him to a 14-day remand. Later, the court granted him interim bail on a personal bond of ₹50,000. Arjun’s father-in-law, Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, arrived at the jail to take the actor home.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday slammed the Congress government in Telangana, saying actor Allu Arjun’s arrest proves that the grand old party has “no respect for the creative industry”.
“The mishap at Sandhya Theatre was a clear case of poor arrangements by the state and local administration. Now, to deflect the blame, they are indulging in such publicity stunts,” Vaishnaw’s post on X read.
The minister’s remarks came hours after the Pushpa 2 actor was arrested in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The incident took place when a sea of fans gathered at the theatre near RTC Crossroads to catch a glimpse of Arjun.

Allu Arjun’s advocate said that a copy of the bail order had already been provided to the jail officials, adding that the actor’s release was expected between 7 and 8 am on Saturday. He said that the reason behind the officials’ not releasing him despite the court order remains unknown.
“Order copy of the high court clearly directed the Superintendent of jail to release Allu Arjun forthwith and Superintendent has directed to ensure his release, but despite the order, they are not releasing him. We don’t know the reason,” the lawyer Ashok Reddy said.
