Prabhas’ latest film, Adipurush, has been facing a challenging reception from critics and audiences, marking a departure from his previous blockbuster, Baahubali. After completing two weeks in theaters, the film’s box office performance is gradually winding down. Despite crossing the impressive milestone of Rs 450 crore worldwide within two weeks, Adipurush struggles to reach the domestic box office target of Rs 300 crore.
Released on June 16, Adipurush is a 3D film with a massive budget of Rs 500 crore and has been released in multiple languages. Directed by Om Raut, the mythological tale has garnered mixed reviews from audiences and failed to sustain its momentum at the box office.
As of June 29, Adipurush’s daily earnings in India fell below the Rs 1 crore mark, specifically accumulating an estimated Rs 90 lakh net. This disappointing performance suggests that the film is approaching the end of its theatrical run. With a 14-day total collection of Rs 281.98 crore in India, it remains Rs 20 crore short of the desired Rs 300 crore milestone. On June 30, the film’s occupancy rate in India was 22.44 percent.
These recent developments raise concerns for the film’s producers, indicating that its theatrical run may soon conclude. Despite its initial hype, Adipurush has faced challenges in attracting sustained audience interest.
