Preliminary reports from the Election Commission of India (ECI) showed that the ruling BJP-JDU run NDA was enjoying a comfortable electoral victory in Bihar, nearing the 200-seat mark by 1:30 am. The ruling NDA was leading in at least 196 out of 243 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan was trailing it by a considerable distance. The Opposition alliance showed some early resistance in the very early trends, before the NDA rapidly switched gears and created an increasingly wider gap between it and the Mahagathbandhan. According to data from PValue Analytics at around 1:30 pm, the Mahagathbandhan led in about 40 seats!

While trends indicated an overwhelmingly electoral mandate for the NDA, officials tended to caution that you would not know the actual and final results until the evening. The majority of the exit polls had already indicated a comfortable and easy win for the ruling NDA, and the day’s trends appeared to affirm the trends.

Update ECI numbers by 3 pm showed that the NDA was continuing its dominant performance since the previous updates during the day’s voting. The NDA was ahead in seats as follows: BJP: 92 seats and JDU: 83 seats, Punjan Paswan’s party led the RJD in 20 of the 29 seats it contested. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan numbers showed that the RJD was ahead in 26 seats and Congress was leading in four. The updated numbers showed that they were clearly losing their seats to the ruling NDA coalition.
