Rahul Gandhi, the senior Congress leader, appears to be on track to win his first term as MP from Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha. According to the most recent ECI estimates, Rahul Gandhi leads Dinesh Pratap Singh of the BJP by 1,16,100 votes in Raebareli.
Rahul Gandhi presently has 1,89,194 votes, compared to Dinesh Singh’s 90,192. With the votes he’s received thus far, BSP candidate Thakur Prasad Yadav appears to be coming closer to third place.
Raebareli is considered the safest of all Congress districts as well as a familial stronghold for India’s oldest political party. This seat was held by Sonia Gandhi, the UPA chairwoman, who won the Lok Sabha elections in 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi ran against Dinesh Pratap Singh of the BJP in Raebareli.
Raebareli polling took place on June 20, 2024, as part of the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Apart from Raebareli, Amethi, and Lucknow, the other Uttar Pradesh seats where voting took place were Mohanlalganj, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambhi, Faizabad, Barabanki, Kaiserganj, and Gonda. The Election Commission of India (ECI) reported that Raebareli had a polling percentage of 58.12.
Apart from that, polling for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat took place in the fifth phase on April 20, with 73.57 percent of votes cast. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Kerala’s Wayanad by 706,367 votes and is running for the same seat again this time, seeking to repeat his success.
