Voting for all 543 Lok Sabha seats is still over as India completed one of the most extensive mass exercises of democracy – the 18th Lok Sabha Elections of 2024. This massive exercise commenced a few weeks back and concluded on June 1, with voting being held in the seventh and last phase in 57 constituencies in 8 states/UTs. BJP is currently leading in the results.

Surveys conducted before the voting concluded have shown almost all polling agencies predicting a landslide third consecutive victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The forecast figures depict that NDA possibly hits an absolute majority in the Parliament, where they could easily bag between 371 to 401 total 543 parliamentary seats. This would put the NDA comfortably over a three-fourth majority mark that can be likened to the super majority that has the backing of a majority of the citizens in the country.

As of the latest data released by 11:30 AM, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 296 seats, which is way above the magic figure of 272 seats required for an absolute majority in the parliament. This strong showing clearly shows that the BJP should continue to form government again, sealing Modi’s position for another term. The present compositional structure of the INDIA Alliance, an opposition parliamentary group established by the Congress Party, indicates that the coalition has 227 seats distributed between the parties. Apart from that, the listed parties have gained 20 successful seats in the election, and which extend the electoral composition.

Everyone has continued counting up to the last number and awaits the final culmination. Therefore, the election has attracted many voters, resulting in a stiff battle between dominant political factors. The massive lead that the BJP gained in this election indicates that the people have given strong backing to the policies and leadership of the BJP, which came into power ten years back. On the other hand, the indicator of the INDIA Alliance demonstrates a clear sign of notable strength in opposition, and thus, they will step into the new phase of parliamentary performance.
