New Delhi: Petitioners in the NEET-UG paper leak case filed an Intervention Application in the honorable Supreme Court requesting a retest for nearly 3.5 lakh top scorers. The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the result of 23 lakh test bearers on July 20. The petitioners in their IA have mentioned that they have scored fairly high marks on the test 650 to 680 out of the total 720 yet they demand a retest.
Petitioners also mentioned in the IA that they are aware of the fact that conducting a retest is not an easy task and has several ramifications. They have to go to the Supreme Court to find a practical solution to the problem. Meanwhile, the opposition parties raised the issue of paper leaks at the first all-party meeting on July 21.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Chandrachud resumed the hearing today. In the previous hearing held on July 18, the apex court bench of CJI Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra flagged NTA’s hypothesis that the paper was leaked, solved, and memorized by students within 45 minutes.
CJI Chandrachud told the petitioners to prove that the paper leak was systematic and affected the entire examination so as to warrant the cancellation of the entire exam. The re-examination has to be on the concrete footing to maintain the sanctity of the entire exam.
