The Supreme Court on Thursday (August 8) agreed to hear tomorrow a petition seeking to postpone the NEET-PG 2024 examination, which is scheduled for August 11, 2024. It is urged that the allocation of test cities was made on 31.07.2024 and the specific centers are scheduled to be declared on 08.08.2024. While the same was done to curb any malpractice in the examinations, the petitioner asserts that given the short notice, it has become highly difficult for students to make arrangements for their travel to their specific cities.
Advocate Anas Tanwir mentioned the petition before Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud this morning seeking an urgent hearing. In response, CJI said that the matter will be heard tomorrow.
The petitioners stated that many candidates who will be appearing in the exam have been allocated cities that are highly inconvenient for them to reach.
The board had earlier released the exam city allotment slip for NEET PG 2024. The NEET PG exam city slip included details about the city where the exam centre will be allotted to the students. Candidates had been allotted the test city based on the preference selected by them during the form filling process. The NBEMS had opened an online window from July 19 to July 23, allowing NEET-PG 2024 candidates to select their preferred test cities for the examination.
