According to the RTE Act, private schools are now required to provide free admissions to eligible children. RTE admissions online application process will begin from March 1, 2025. But quite a number of private schools are yet to register on the portal and this may further cause delay in the school admissions for most students.
According to the RTE portal, it was the Directorate of Public Instruction that instructed schools to update the number of available seats on the portal by February 28, 2025. Nevertheless, with the election ongoing, this procedure failed to complete by February. If schools do not update seat availability timely, the online registration portal to apply to the student will most likely not run smoothly down the line, adding to the delay.
RTE Admission Eligibility
The RTE Act enables children aged 3 to 6.5 years to apply for free admission. They can enrol themselves in the entry-level class of a private school that is registered under the scheme.
Required Documents for RTE Admission
The following documents are to be submitted by parents in order to apply for RTE admission:
- BPL (Below Poverty Line) Certificate
- Ration Card
- Income Certificate
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Residence Proof
- Birth Certificate
One needs to ensure that the necessary documents are complete and up to the mark. Though, if any document is not filled or it has error leads to application rejection.
During this period of starting admission process parents are advised to remain updated and check RTE portal for any changes from time to time. For the application process not to be disrupted, schools must as well register at the earliest.
