New Delhi: Delhi’s private schools are gearing up for the commencement of registrations for nursery, KG, and class 1 admissions on November 23, 2023. The Directorate of Education has set December 15, 2023, as the deadline for submitting admission applications, mandating that parents adhere to this timeframe.
Crucially, the first admission list for Delhi Nursery Admissions 2024 is scheduled to be unveiled on January 12, 2024. Notably, private schools have allocated 25% of their seats for economically disadvantaged sections, children with disabilities, and marginalized groups. This inclusive measure entails the issuance of a separate list for these categories.
In terms of eligibility, prospective students must be 3 years old for pre-school, 4 years old for pre-primary, and 5 years old for class 1 admission as of March 31st. The Directorate of Education has also granted a provision for age relaxation of up to 30 days, which will be considered by the respective school’s head, affecting the minimum and upper-age limits for these classes.
Following the release of the first admission list on January 12, 2024, schools will engage with parental inquiries from January 13 to January 22, 2023. Parents seeking age relaxation can approach the head of school or principal through a manual application, as outlined in the official notification.
Schools are required to provide their admission criteria and point allocation system by November 20, 2023. In cases of a tie, a random selection process will be implemented in the presence of parents, either through drawing slips or computerized means. This selection process will be meticulously recorded and retained by the authorities.
Notably, there is no compulsion for parents to purchase a prospectus along with an admission form. A nominal registration fee of Rs 25 is the sole charge associated with the application process, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the admissions process for all.
