New Delhi: The Congress MPs on Friday moved Adjournment motions on alleged irregularities in the NEET and ‘failure’ of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in both the Houses – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The move comes after President Droupadi Murmu mentioned the paper leak issue while addressing the joint sitting of the Parliament on Thursday.
Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the alleged irregularities in the conduct of NEET UG 2024, on Wednesday questioned the Principal and other staff members of the Oasis School in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh. Meanwhile, the Special CBI Court in Patna has sent two accused in the NEET question paper leak case – Chintu Kumar and Mukesh Kumar – to CBI remand for three days.
NTA is expected to release the results of the recently held NEET UG re-examination results on June 30. The Delhi Police has registered a case against NSUI workers after they barged into the NTA office during a protest against NEET issue.
BJP leader and former Union minister Anurag Thakur will present the Motion of Thanks for the President’s address in the Lok Sabha today, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to respond on July 2. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj will second the motion, expressing gratitude for the President’s address to the joint session of Parliament on Thursday.
In the Rajya Sabha, BJP’s Sudhanshu Trivedi will present the motion on Friday, and the Prime Minister is anticipated to reply to the debate on July 3 in the Upper House.
President Droupadi Murmu addressed the joint session of Parliament on Thursdayfor the first time following the Lok Sabha elections. In her speech, she congratulated the Election Commission on successfully conducting the elections and discussed several key issues, including the violence in the Northeast and the Emergency imposed by the Congress government in 1975.
