For the academic year 2024–2025, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a set of guidelines and SOPs for conducting the practical exams, projects, and internal assessments for classes 10 and 12. The dates of the practical exams are set for January 1, 2025, to February 14, 2025.
As per the new guidelines, the marks of all the practical exams should be uploaded together between the date of conduct of the exam, i.e., starting from 1st January to 14th February 2025. No correction will be possible in this; hence schools have also been instructed to ensure that only correct marks should be uploaded. Permission will be given only after the marks are accumulated. Another feature has now been included in the Practical Answer Sheet whereby both internal and external examiners will be able to confirm that the correct data has been uploaded.
Examiners must report to the relevant regional office any instances involving unfair means, along with relevant facts, witnesses, and papers. The board has stated that action will be taken if the use of unfair means affects the assessment.
It has also been mentioned by the board that if the school fails to follow the prescribed guidelines, the board reserves the right to cancel the practical examination of that school and also reconsider conducting the practical examination under the supervision of the board.
The board has stated that no external examiner will be assigned for Class 10, and the school will be responsible for arranging the practical answer books, which will not be provided by the board. Additionally, it is not required to send Class 10 practical answer books to the regional office.
The board will select an outside examiner to conduct the practical exams for Class 12. Alternative arrangements for external examiners cannot be made by schools. In order to ensure that the practical exams are conducted fairly, the board has also suggested that observers might be assigned to schools. Schools and children are advised to visit the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in for further information on the guidelines and SOPs.
