In a major breakthrough, the Criminal Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Aman Singh from Jharkhan’s Hazaribagh for his alleged role in NEET-UG paper leak case. Sources reveal that CBI has confirmed Singh as the kingpin of the paper leaks racket. It must be noted that this is the seventh arrest by the central probe agency in the case.
Earlier on Sunday, CBI nabbed Dixit Patel, the owner of jay Jalaram School, a private school in Godhra, Gujarat. The owner was arrested for allegedly soliciting between Rs. 5 lakhs and Rs. 10 lakhs from candidates in exchange for a promise to enhance the examination scores.
The Gujarat Police alleged that Dixit Patel planned to fill the answer sheets on behalf of 27 students whom they charged Rs. 10 lakhs each.
Earlier on June 29, the CBI arrested Jamaluddin Ansari, a marketing professional following the arrest of Oasis School’s principal Ehsanul Haque. Haque was appointed the city coordinator by the NTA.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET-UG examination on May 5 in 571 cities. NTA allotted 4750 centers. 23 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. When the results were declared on June 4, it immediately caused a hue and cry among the aspirants. An unprecedented 67 candidates received a perfect score of 720 marks. Protest began throughout the nation. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured strict action those involved in NEET-UG irregularities.
